Notary Public Commissions

Notary Public Commissions:

The Secretary of the State’s Office in Hartford issues Notary Public commissions. Once you received your notary certificate from the Secretary of the State you must record your commission at the Town Clerk’s Office in the town where you reside. The recording fee is $20.00. You may also record your commission in the town where you do business, but this is not mandatory, and requires another $20.00 recording fee to that town. If a notary’s signature needs to be certified, it must be certified by the Town Clerk in the town where the commission is recorded. There is a $5.00 fee for the certification of signature.
