Evictions

The Human Services Department oversees evictions for the Town of Cromwell. The process begins with the Marshall notifiying our office with the scheduled eviction. We have a contract with a storage company for the storage of evictee’s possessions. The evictee is notified when possible of the cost of moving and storage and the time frame they have to recover their possessions. Our department is available to assist with the evictee to try to help them reclaim their items whenever possible,  but this is at the expense of the evictee.  Our office also attempts to find alternate shelter and/or food to assist each individual or family at the time of eviction, if applicable. If the individual or family does not reclaim their property within time perimeters, an auction is then conducted. We recommend however, that you contact our office well before an eviction occurs. We certainly don't want to see anyone be evicted, so if you are in a situation, please give us a call before it gets to the point of eviction to see if we can help. If you need housing assistance please call 211.
