Youth Services

The Youth Bureau is the investigative arm of the police department's detective division, charged with the detection, investigation, deterrence, and prevention of delinquency behavior and juvenile crime.

Major Tasks and duties include:

  • Handling, follow-up and disposition of complaints and/or case investigation's involving children under 17 years of age.
  • Investigation of sex crimes committed by and against children under 17 years or age.
  • Investigation of child abuse cases.     
  • Confidential processing of both juveniles and youthful offenders.
  • Provide assistance to the school district and youth services bureau of the town on matters involving truancy and troubled youths.
  • Working closely with the Department of Children and Families to help the children of Cromwell
  • Department representation for the Multi-Discipline Team, which reviews all major cases in Middlesex County involving children.
