Motorcycle Unit

Motorcylce Police Unit

The Cromwell Police Department's Motorcycle Unit was formed in the summer of 2004, initially funded by a Federal Highway Traffic Safety Grant. A fully equipped Harley-Davidson motorcycle was obtained along with related equipment for the two officers assigned to the unit. The motorcycle has the latest in emergency lighting, radio, and laser speed Motorcycle Police Unitdetection systems.

This specialized vehicle and equipment will be used in conjunction with the Department's regular patrol forces in an effort to promote and enforce traffic safety on our local streets and highways.

The motorcycle is used for specialized assignments such as escorts and parade duty. It is also utilized by department members assigned to the Mid-State Traffic Enforcement Unit for traffic duties such as seat belt compliance, speed, and traffic safety enforcement activities.
