Function: |
The Assessor's Office is responsible for the discovery, listing, and equitable valuation of all real and personal property within the Town of Cromwell in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes at 70% of market value for the annual production of the Grand List. Additionally, the assessor and staff administer state and local programs of tax relief, apply exemptions as permitted by state law, and assist the public with a variety of inquiries. Annually provides a Grand List of all taxable property within the Town of Cromwell. |

Services: |
Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all property, including land and improvements thereon including changes in ownership, new construction, alterations, and sub-divisions filed as of the assessment date. Annually inspects and values all permit activity within the town limits of Cromwell. Every 5 years conduct a Revaluation of all Real Estate as defined by State Statutes. The Town of Cromwell last revaluated all property in 2002. The next schedule revaluation will be October 1, 2007. Adjusts Motor Vehicle assessments that have either been Sold, Stolen, Salvaged or Registered Out of State. Annually apply all tax exemption programs as permitted by state law. (Veterans, Disabled, Blind, Elderly Tax Relief, etc.) |
